Care and Wearing

Fully Fashioned nylon stockings - care and wearing information

We advise the use of cotton gloves when putting on your nylons to avoid permanent damage and unsightly snagging. Ensure that your shoe linings are free of rough edges that may otherwise cause laddering. Stockings should be rolled onto the leg while keeping the seam straight when pulled up the leg.

The suspender clips must be attached from the back first and only into the 'welt' (the uppermost part of the stocking top) Good quality six strap suspender belts are recommended for wearing seamed nylons and the rearmost clip should be attached as near to the 'finishing loop' possible to ensure the seam is kept straight. When attaching the straps begin with the back clips first.

Your stockings should be washed by hand in warm soapy water and is desirable to position them without creases whilst drying.

Fully Fashioned nylon stockings - sizing

These stockings are knitted on vintage flatbed knitting machines and because of varying factors during the manufacturing process individual pairs may differ slightly in length but should be within the tolerances for each particular size. The only stretch is the amount allowed in the knit when made, this is, of course, one of the features of a genuine Fully Fashioned nylons.

When taken from the packet these stockings will appear very long but when pulled up the leg length will be lost depending upon the size of calf, thigh and foot size.
